Tips For Choosing The Right Treadmill

There is a bottomless pit of treadmills out there to choose from and most ordinary don’t know how to go about choosing the treadmill that will be best for them. If you’ve searched around for reviews on different treadmills, you’ve probably found a nice plethora of review sites that may or may not agree about your treadmills. If you’ve done that, then you’re heading the right direction. You will want to do as much research as you can about your different treadmills before deciding on one. As you read reviews you will want to judge the authority of the site the best you can before trusting their advice. Some review sites are more like advertising sites disguised as review sites.

Regardless of all that however, there are some universal aspects that you should think about and take into consideration when deciding on your treadmill.

Your weight vs treadmill weight capacity: Try to stay well below the weight capacity of treadmills. If you weigh 225 lbs, don’t get a treadmill with a 250 lb weight capacity, you’ll more likely want a 350 lb weight capacity if you want it to hold up on you. Try to make sure you have a good 100 or 150 lb leeway on the weight capacity. A treadmill’s ability to hold a certain weight is much different than its ability to hold that amount of weight stomping on it for an extended period of time. They don’t usually advertise that weight capacity.

Motor: the motor size you will want depends on your weight, your running intensity, and your running frequency. If you are over 200 lbs, run at a fast pace, and run often, you will want above a 3.0 CHP motor for sure. Don’t be skimpy on the motor size, or you will likely find yourself fixing it or replacing it in the future.

Deck size: The standard full size deck is 20″ x 60″. You will probably not want to go any smaller than this unless you’re short, then you may not notice a difference for a few more inches.

If you’re the kind that just likes to hop on the treadmill and run, without using the features it has, then don’t spend more on a treadmill with lots of features. However, there are some great features that some treadmills offer, so if you do enjoy features like Ifit Live and built in workouts, don’t hesitate to spend a little extra for those.

Aside from those things, there are still many other aspects to consider. Just make sure the sites you use to make your decision are trustworthy and authoritative like treadmill doctor, or treadmill sensei.
